An open invitation from the President of the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association (KCBIA)
To our current members, prospective members and to all their staffs.
The City of Kamloops is in the midst of engaging the community regarding the benefits and affordability of developing a Performing Arts Centre (PAC) in the downtown. This is the single largest capital investment the City has undertaken and has the hallmarks of not only transforming the downtown but the entire city. Transformative because:
It’s affordable. We are witnessing generational low interest rates. Through the funding mechanism the COK uses, the Municipal Finance Authority, interest payments are affordable and debt repayment is quicker. Game changer. To build a facility with all the proposed attributes is litterly game changing. A 350 stall parkade, entertainment facilities, commercial retail space, etc. Business attraction. Downtown currently has a deficit of some 200 parking stalls. Additional parking spaces will attract business investment in commercial and multifamily residential construction. Economic spin offs. Not only will PAC development create employment opportunities during construction but additional employment opportunities will arise post construction. People attraction. History has proven that investing in strategic capital initiatives attracts a new residents including Professionals, academics, trades, etc. We can only look to what this city would be without The Tournament Capital Centre, TRU or Sandman Centre.
As the President of your Association I strongly encourage you to engage your staff, your neighbours and your business associates with respect to PAC. In this regard I encourage you to visit the KCBIA sponsored member engagement session on October 8th at 417 Seymour St, The REX. Times are 11:30am-1:30pm and 4:00pm to 6:30pm.
